This month we will be experimenting with logwood (Heamatoxylum campechianum) , which comes from a tree found in Central America. The pigment is found in the bark of the tree and gives a rich purple color. Aside from it's use as a natural dye it is also used in microscopy to stain the nucleus of cells. While the color is rich it is prone to fading from UV light. An iron post modification helps to mitigate this.
