Make Your Own Quilted Sawtooth Star Vest

This is an advanced beginner workshop that combines traditional quilting techniques with wearable art, teaching participants to craft an heirloom quality quilted vest featuring the classic sawtooth star pattern. Students will learn essential skills in piecing, pattern modification, quilting, and finishing techniques while creating a unique, functional garment.

Materials fee: $20 cash, check, card or venmo (to be paid day of workshop)

Materials provided by instructor: Nichole will provide a vest pattern that has a bust size range from 30”- 43”. If you are outside of this range, Nichole can offer commercial vest pattern suggestions. $20 supply fee includes a paper pattern for sizes 30” - 43” bust.

Students should bring: 

• A well functioning sewing machine,
• Garment shears
• Thread snips
• Cutting mat
• Rotary cutter
• All purpose sewing machine
• thread
• Acrylic quilting ruler - I like 3” x 18”
• Fabric pencil or tailors chalk
• * 3/4 - 1 yard of lining - mid weight woven(non stretch) cotton or linen fabric. ½ yard total of 2 to 4 coordinating woven (non stretch) linen or cotton fabric pieces to use in the quilt square.
• * 3/4 - 1 yard of main fabric mid weight woven (non stretch) cotton or linen fabric. ¾ -1 yard of wool or cotton quilting batting ⅝ yard midweight cotton or linen (non stretch) fabric for binding 1-3 ¾’-1’ button
• Cotton embroidery or sashiko thread
• Quilting needles
• Approximately 5 yards of bias binding (can be made from fabric scraps or purchased.) 
• Thimble
• 8”-12” quilting hoop
