The Textile Study Group presents: In Search of Wool
We are very excited to host a visiting textile scholar Bilge Merve Aktas who is currently doing an artist residency at the Center for Craft
Bilge is a designer-researcher captivated by the world of felting, its rawness, and untamed nature. Her interdisciplinary practice-led research explores the connection between humans and materials. She employs crafting as a way of thinking and of building meaningful relationships with communities and the environment.
In her upcoming talk on July 13th, she will share her journey of studying human-material interaction with regard to wool and felting. With hands-on explorations, the talk will cover topics such as thinking through making and sensorial interactions.
This event is free but please register so we know how many to expect.
