The Spinning Study Group meets monthly and covers a range of topics, including different techniques of hand spinning and fiber processing, how to use hand spinning tools, and other topics as determined by the group. We are conducting a breed study, spinning and plying samples of various types of wool, mohair, alpaca, llama and rabbit raised in our Blue Ridge Mountains region. Farmers are invited each month to give a talk about their farm, the animals they raise and the qualities of the fiber produced. This is not a learn-to-spin group, but we welcome those new to spinning. Please bring a working wheel. Materials Supplied: We purchase fiber to spin from a different farmer each month and share the cost.
