Why wear boring tighty whities when you can be as fashionable under your clothes as on top? You'll learn a variety of shibori techniques such as itajime (clamped), kumo (twist & bind) and mokume (stitched) in the morning as we practice on the small cloth palettes of panties or socks. We'll dye using fiber reactive dyes in cold water, dry, wash out and admire the results. In the afternoon you'll use what you learned with the garments or fabric you bring to our studio.
This is a new type of workshop called Class+lab. Here's how it works: The morning will be taught by the instructor as usual and then in the afternoon students will have the opportunity to stay and work in the studio. The instructor will be there with you but not doing formal teaching. This gives you a chance to explore, play and experiment with the techniques you learned in the morning. This new structure provides individual, independent exploration at a very affordable price.
