Melanie has lived in the mountains of Western North Carolina since 1998, originally coming here to study sustainable agriculture. She later studied weaving at Haywood Community College, and now enjoys watching these 2 worlds collide.  She has spent the past 5 years immersed in learning to grow different plant fibers and a variety of natural plant dyes. Melanie has dedicated the past 20 years to learning and teaching, working with herbalist’s, a couture sewing business, and teaching the fiber skills she so loves to people of all ages. She is most interested in how process crosses into our daily living and how these choices can help shape our footprint on the future.
