Knit your first or second or third... sweater

This class is part of our Summer Series, where we invite you to take a deep dive into a skill you've been wanting to master.  

If you have some basic knitting skills but haven't been ready to take the sweater plunge this class is for you. The sweater we will make is very beginner friendly: it's knit on big needles, top down construction (this means you can try it on as you go to make sure you get the fit you want) and easy raglan shaping.

We'll use a free pattern called the Turtle Dove which you can find on Ravelry. It uses Aran weight yarn but you can also combine a worsted weight with mohair which is what I used in the sweater above.  You will learn the following skills along the way: making a gauge swatch, twisted rib, short row shaping, increases, long tail and cable cast on. Don't let all these terms scare you off, they are all easy and great to have in your knitting tool box. We will meet once every other  week for six sessions with an optional zoom session on the other weeks ( one exception is Sept 29th which will also be a zoom meeting).  At the end you will have a well fitting sweater just the way you want it! The only prerequisite skills are knowing how to knit, purl and cast on; we will be knitting in the round so if you have done that before that is helpful but not necessary.  Once you sign up for the class we will discuss yarn and needle choices.
