It's Oaktober! This month we explore the mighty oak tree. We can use leaves and acorns, so get out there and fight your squirrels for those tasty nuts. Both leaves and nuts are high in tannin so mordanting is not required, but if you want to compare, bring some mordanted fiber as well. As usual, bring cellulose or protein fibers of your choice. If you're bringing acorns, soak them ahead of time for at least 24 hours.

We will also put the dye garden to bed, so bring gloves and gardening tools.

If you haven't joined us for the study group, we pick one topic each month which is led by one of the natural dyer's in our group. This is not a class and does assume a basic familiarity with natural dyeing. We recommend that you take a class or do some research to have a satisfactory experience.

What to Bring:

Plant material and fiber to dye (mordanted and un-mordanted), show and tell to share, gardening tools and gloves.
