Yarn? I love yarn! You too? Have you ever planned a project that you were so excited about and then had to settle on a yarn that did not excite you? Maybe you have sheep and hope to use their wool. Learning to spin yarn is a game changer! The benefits are too numerous to count, but there are two that are amazing! Imagine having the perfect yarn for every project and never settling again. Now, imagine having that option at a much more economical cost. Game changer! If you are curious about spinning and want to know more, I am teaching a class that is perfect for you! The Beginning Spinning class I have put together is for a new spinner, a not-so-new-who needs a little more guidance, and the curious. We will discuss many topics, such as the various types and parts of a spinning wheel and which may be right for you. Other topics include tools, cost, spindles, drafting, plying, and finishing. After the quick discussion, we will work on the wheels and other fiber tools. Once everyone is comfortable and practicing, I work with students individually as time allows. Our goal is to send you home with a plied skein of yarn.

$15 MATERIALS FEE 15 dollars: I provide each student with a thorough packet containing all the topics we discuss, all the spinning fibers, a gift bag of luxury fibers, and an extra wheel when possible. If you have or have access to a spinning wheel please bring it. (If you do have access to a wheel and plan to take the class, start practicing the treadling now). Wheels are usually available and may be rented. You may bring a spindle (For the curious!) Happy Spinning!

Level: Beginner

Registration: Members $50, Non-members $60

Instructor: Brandi Adcock

What to bring/how to dress: If you have or have access to a spinning wheel, please bring it. (If you do have access to a wheel and plan to take the class, start practicing the treadling now). Wheels are usually available and may be rented. You may bring a spindle (For the curious!) Second-hand wheels are easily found on Local Cloths Bulletin Board, Facebook Marketplace, or thrift sales. A quick online search may be done for DIY instructions to make a spindle. Student may want a notebook and a pencil to take notes.
