Join Elizabeth and Joubert Visser of Shalom Farms on Sunday, August 21 from 1:30 - 2:30pm along with the Spinning Study Group.

Elizabeth and Joubert escaped from the big city of Chicago and the corporate world, and found a few acres here in the Blue Ridge mountains of western North Carolina, just outside of Boone and so started their journey with a small homestead farm.

"It is here where we started our flock with 7 Jacob sheep which has now grown to 12.  They were sheared towards the end of May 2022 and we discovered the wonders of sheep fleece. After seeing Judi Jetson at the JSBA meeting in Marshall we had the opportunity to meet her at Local Cloth and see all the wonderful fleece end products.  So we are excited to get involved with all things wool!"

Their Heritage breed of Jacob sheep is tri-color.  The fleece varies from brown/black and white to white and "lilac".  This unique fiber is highly sought after.  They will be demonstrating carding and roving and have several different fleeces on display and for purchase.
