Get cozy and comfortable with the purl stitch! After half a day together, you will be well versed in how to execute both knits and purls, be able to tell the difference between them in your knitting (i.e., how to "read" your knitting to know which stitches are which, and which should come next), and have mastered several different methods of ribbing, seed stitch, basket weave, all over textured patterns, and how to read a chart. Students will create a well- labeled sampler to serve as a reminder at home of all the ways knits and purls can be combined to create fabric characteristics. Prerequisite skills: Students should feel comfortable with the knit stitch. Materials needed: 1 ball of bulky yarn and US 10 needles; or 1 ball of worsted weight yarn and US 7 needles.

Level: Intermediate

Materials Fee: $0

Registration: Members $50, Non-members $60

Instructor: bio Jess Kaufmann
