Local Cloth Resident Artists are fiber-art professionals who share a personal passion and commitment for teaching and sharing fiber art techniques, design and traditions while developing their own bodies of work. Our mission is to collaborate with Local Cloth by offering a wide array of learning opportunities and experiences that will engage communities and bring new appreciation for the fiber arts.
Local Cloth's resident artists are professional textile artists who have made a one-year commitment to teaching and developing their body of work in the Local Cloth Studio in downtown Asheville, North Carolina. They will work and teach in the studio every Tuesday - Thursday. We have an open door policy and welcome both students and members of the public into our studio to discover the mysteries of fiberarts.
Resident Artists Joan Berner, Danielle Burke, and Karen Donde share a passion and personal commitment to practicing and teaching fiber arts, and have been selected through a competitive process to start our program. These artists offer a range of skills and expertise including weaving, felting, dyeing, eco-printing, garment design, and more.
Over the next year, our resident artists will be offering a dynamic selection of classes and workshops to help you cultivate and grow your own creative practice.
If you are interested in visiting with a particular artist, please contact her ahead of time by clicking one of the links above. Most Tuesdays-Thursdays, the studio will the open to drop-in visitors who want to see our resident artists in action, but please check the resident artist calendar first for any schedule changes.
